Join CMA for our Third Annual StoryTime! This year we welcome a new group of amazing movers and shakers of the industry in sharing stories tied to "Reflection," in this exciting third installment of our storytelling event. This unique, intimate experience will give attendees a glimpse into the authentic, true stories of our speakers. This year, Carly Ciarrocchi, host of Snug’s House, and The Big Fun Crafty Show, will be hosting, joined by guest speakers Livia Beasley, Producer of Pixel & Pebble and Founder of the Children’s Media Association, Steve Burns, former host of Blue’s Clues and theme-song-writer of CBS's Young Sheldon, Halcyon Person, Head Writer at 9 Story Media Group and former Director and Producer of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Rosemarie Truglio, Senior Vice President of Curriculum and Content at Sesame Workshop, and Dan Yaccarino, creator of Nickelodeon’s Oswald, and designer of The Backyardigans.

This year’s event will feature the opportunity for photos and autographs with our esteemed speakers and items from our Silent Auction, including theatre tickets, gift baskets, and career coaching from your favorite children's media veterans. You’ll be able to bid online in the days leading up to the event.

Carly Ciarrocchi (HOST) is a performer, writer/creator, and musician whose work combines authenticity, comedy, curriculum, and just the right amount of weird. Her journey into children’s television began when she was hired as a host and writer for Sprout’s live preschool morning show Sunny Side Up. She’s currently hosting Snug’s House, and The Big Fun Crafty Show on Universal Kids as well as Don’t Break the Rules on Pinna.  Carla has written songs for Sprout/Universal Kids that have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and is a vocalist and songwriter on the Grammy Award-winning Children’s Album HOME. Stay tuned, she’s working on more TV and podcast goodies for 2020!

Livia Beasley is proud to be the founder of the CMA! For the past 20 years,  Livia has been a content creator for many of the top networks and production companies including Nickelodeon, Sesame Workshop, Universal Kids, PBS, 9 Story, YouTube,  and Amazon. Today, Livia Beasley is the chief pebble skipper of PIXEL and PEBBLE, a creative boutique devoted to developing and producing pro-social content that inspires little kids to do big things. She can also sometimes be spotted noodling on lyrics and vocals as one half the songwriting duo BAREFOOT WALKING. When she’s not working, Livia can be found making up silly stories from inside a blanket fort with her toddler.

Steve Burns wrote the theme song for CBS’s Young Sheldon, made music with The Flaming Lips, told stories for The Moth, and is the baldest host of Blue’s Clues.                    

Halcyon Person is an Emmy-nominated comedy maker based in Brooklyn, New York. She’s currently working as a Head Writer at 9 Story Media. Before that, she was a Director and Producer for Full Frontal with Samantha BeeYou've seen her work on Netflix, Nickelodeon, and TBS, and written up in The New York Times, Vulture, and AV Club. You can also see her doing stand up and giving silly PowerPoint presentations all around New York City, if you're into that sort of thing.

Rosemarie Truglio is the Senior Vice President of Curriculum and Content at Sesame Workshop. Dr. Truglio is responsible for the development of the interdisciplinary curriculum on which Sesame Street is based and oversees content development across platforms. From 1997 to 2013, she managed all educational research pertaining to program development, the results of which informed both the production and creative decisions for how to enhance the entertaining and educational components of linear and interactive content.

Before joining Sesame Workshop in 1997, she was an Assistant Professor of Communication and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Truglio has written numerous articles in child and developmental psychology journals, authored the book “Ready for School! A Parent’s Guide to Playful Learning for Children Ages 2 to 5” and co-edited “G is for Growing: Thirty Years of Research on Children and Sesame Street.”

Dan Yaccarino is an internationally acclaimed artist, writer, and producer. He has created several animated series, including Oswald and the Emmy-Award Winning Willa’s Wild Life. Dan has written and illustrated over fifty children’s books, most notably Doug Unplugged, Unlovable, The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau, and Every Friday. He is also the designer for Nickelodeon’s The Backyardigans. Animation Magazine has dubbed him as “an American Original.”
